Panagbenga: “The blooming of Season Road”

Season road was crowd
while the street was closed
and the festival of flower was opened.
There was plenty of people from this town and the visitors came to watch the festival. It was not so easy to move around. I went along Season road to observe the flower festival: Panagbenga that happened from February until March. It was the first time to see with my own eyes nearly the flower festival.  I started my observation in the top af Season road exactly in front of SM Baguio. I went down slowly and stopped in front of the Cathedral. There was a big stage with beautiful decorations and full of flower. I saw a lot of people made a circle near the stage. They were watching the performance on the stage. A group of singer were singing and many visitors were taking pictures.  Many reporter, photographer, cameraman  stood there. I got close to the stage to listen the music and observed something there. I saw the background of the stage. There was a big screen that presented about flower festival: Panagbenga. The voice of the sound system was very strong and I couldn’t listen well. Than I decided to move to the other stands or booths.
Season road was in blossom
and the road became the showcase street.
People showed many flowers in their booths and stands. There were not only flowers but I saw many restaurants along the road. In other hand the stand of foods were many and bigger than the flowers’ stand. In my observations, I observed that many foods were not related to Cordillieran food. “Maybe one day this festival will change become the festival of food or the arts of cooking”. Season was really blooming when I saw a small garden on the street and near the garden they put a small gazebo, and there was wood house, souvenirs, accessories, Cordillieran foods, and other things that related to flower and art. I always saw a banners that showed me about Panagbenga in every stands that I visited. The banner reminded me about that moment.

I took along time in one booths that sold many photo frame, bags, ashtray, and many things that they made from paper. They reused and made a new beautiful things. They made arts for selling. They were creative and cooperative. This festival showed me how to make my life beautiful. They made a simple thing became beautiful.

To be creative
is to make life beautiful and meaningful.

Life become better by change.
